Job Description ESSENTIAL DUTIES:- Plan and implement a program; including Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics, that meets students’ needs, interests and abilities and goals and complies with State Department of Education minimum standards.
- Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum or program goals.
- Establish clear objectives for all lessons, assignments, units and projects, and communicate these objectives to students.
- Provide technical assistance and consultation to students for curriculum integration.
- Utilize instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
- Create an environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest level of students.
- Establish and maintain standards of appropriate behavior and discipline needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere.
- Assist in the supervision of students’ campus wide.
- Evaluate the learning progress and provide progress reports, to students, parents and sponsor teachers, on a regular basis.
- Prescribe effective programs and/or initiate referrals to appropriate personnel when appropriate.
- Provide directions and materials for substitute teachers.
- Plan for and supervise classroom aides, guests and volunteers.
- Provide routine maintenance for equipment used in the lab.
- Researches and preview hardware, software, and other technical related materials.
- Maintain an information data base for assigned sponsor students.
- Communicate sponsor student progress to students and parents on a regular basis.
- Other duties as assigned by administration.
EXPERIENCE:
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Organizational, decision-making and problem solving skills.
- Interpersonal skills with diverse population’s, in-person, via email or on the telephone.
- Ability to meet deadlines, work on multiple projects and coordinate the work of others.
- Knowledge of and ability to use word processing, database and spreadsheet software.
- Knowledge of laws, regulations and guidelines affecting teachers and students.
- Knowledge of effective classroom management techniques.
- Ability to maintain positive relationships with students, parents, community members and staff.
- Current New Mexico teaching certificate in specified field.
- Current endorsements dependent upon specific positions may be required.
- Additional requirements may be applicable for specific positions.
- Proficient computer and supportive technology skills.
Sitting, standing, lifting, and carrying (up to 30 pounds) reaching, squatting, kneeling, and moving light furniture may be required.
SAFETY AND HEALTH:- Knowledge of universal hygiene precautions.
Must know how to properly operate or be willing to learn to operate all multi-media equipment including current technology.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:Must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality. Interruptions of work are routine. Flexibility and patience are required. Must be self‑motivated and able to complete job assignments without direct supervision. After hour work may be required. May make home visits when needed and appropriate.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:Salary determined by Salary Schedule and experience.
Work year determined by the Head Administrator and the Board.
