Overview
As a Water/Wastewater Process Engineer you will apply your unique skills and insights as part of teams that span the Intermountain Region and across the United States. The position supports delivery of public sector water/wastewater facility planning and design projects. You will evaluate, design, and support startup and operation of public sector wastewater treatment facilities. You will also support projects as part of the design team, a design lead, a task manager, and/or a project manager.
You will prepare facility assessment and design reports, perform design calculations, perform process and/or hydraulic modeling, select and size equipment, prepare design documents and construction documents, and support construction phase services both in office and in the field. Field work and site visits from planning through construction may require occasional travel. You will support and mentor junior engineers and will be supported by senior mentors on projects and local and regional leadership.
- Work with a design team from initial studies and conceptual design through construction.
- Work on water and wastewater projects for municipal facilities and infrastructure, including field work and site visits from design through construction.
- Provide project management support in roles such as project lead or task manager.
- Perform engineering activities for preliminary and detailed treatment process design, including review and analysis of system needs, hydraulic and hydrologic modeling, evaluation of alternatives, and preliminary/detailed design.
- Review vendor information to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Perform equipment selection and prepare technical specifications.
- Prepare engineering specifications, data sheets, sketches, drawings, and perform engineering calculations.
- Support other water infrastructure projects, including conveyance and water resource systems, as needed.
- B.S. degree in Environmental, Civil, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering
- Professional Engineer in the state of New Mexico (or ability to obtain reciprocity)
- 5 years of professional experience
- Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proficient with commonly used software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong organizational skills
