- Collaborate with Sandia and external experts to deliver high‑quality III‑V microelectronics products across the technology readiness spectrum.
- Iterate and optimize device designs based on test results and prototypes.
- Seek and develop new opportunities that leverage Sandia’s world‑class III‑V capabilities.
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.
Qualifications We Require- Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Materials Science, or a related field conferred within five (5) years prior to employment.
- Background in microelectronic or optoelectronic device development.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE L‑level security clearance.
- Experience with III‑V materials and molecular beam epitaxy.
- Simulation of microelectronic or optoelectronic heterostructures.
- Fabrication or testing of microelectronic or optoelectronic devices.
- Demonstrated commitment to laboratory safety.
- Record of semiconductor device research innovation (peer‑reviewed papers, conference presentations, or patents).
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
The III‑V Microelectronics Department leads research on Group III‑V compound semiconductors, spanning technology readiness levels from TRL1 to TRL
6. Core capabilities include electronic modeling, epitaxial design and growth, device characterization, and high‑reliability product development for high‑consequence systems.
This posting is open for a minimum of seven (7) calendar days. Sandia reserves the right to extend the posting at any time.
Security ClearanceApplicants must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE L‑level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Clearance requires pre‑employment background checks. A medical portable electronic device may require additional NNSA security compliance.
Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO)All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected class under state or federal law.
Position InformationThis is a temporary postdoctoral position for up to one year, with potential renewal for up to five additional years at Sandia’s discretion. The Ph.D. must have been conferred within five years prior to employment. Postdoctoral employees may apply for regular Sandia positions and may be converted to a career role if warranted.
