CEIS | Government is looking for an Industrial Hygiene Technologist to support Sandia National Laboratories in implementing programs aimed at identifying, evaluating, and controlling potential workplace health and safety hazards. This role conducts field sampling, performs exposure monitoring, supports hazard assessments, and helps maintain compliance with DOE, OSHA, and internal Sandia requirements. The ideal candidate is technically strong, detail‑oriented, and able to work independently in a highly regulated environment.
Responsibilities- Provide industrial hygiene technical support related to anticipating, identifying, evaluating, and controlling workplace hazards.
- Conduct field sampling using personal and area monitoring, direct‑reading instrumentation, air and surface sampling methods, sound level readings, audio dosimetry, and other IH monitoring techniques.
- Perform calibration of industrial hygiene instruments and verify quality control measures.
- Conduct noise monitoring, ergonomic evaluations, ventilation assessments, and confined space evaluations.
- Perform respirator fit testing and support respiratory protection and hearing conservation programs.
- Assist with hazard identification through workplace inspections and sampling‑based evaluations.
- Prepare accurate, clear, and compliant sampling reports and maintain IH documentation using approved record‑keeping systems.
- Support implementation of established IH programs, including chemical hygiene, PPE, hazard communication, and exposure‑monitoring initiatives.
- Assist with developing, organizing, and maintaining IH sampling plans, exposure assessments, and associated data.
- Support incident investigations related to industrial hygiene exposures or health hazards.
- Collaborate effectively with engineering, safety, operations, and scientific teams to ensure appropriate hazard controls are implemented.
- Work with minimal supervision while maintaining a high level of quality and accuracy in all monitoring and documentation tasks.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a related scientific discipline.
- Working knowledge of IH monitoring methods, NIOSH/OSHA sampling techniques, and exposure evaluation practices.
- 1 to 10 years of experience in industrial hygiene, health & safety, or related technical work.
- Ability to prepare accurate sampling and monitoring reports.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations used in exposure analysis and equipment calibration.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q‑level security clearance.
- Knowledge of OSHA General Industry and Construction Safety Standards.
- Familiarity with data collection tools, exposure databases, and IH record‑keeping systems.
- Understanding of chemistry, biology, physics, and other scientific foundations used in IH evaluations.
- Experience supporting DOE facilities or other high‑hazard, highly regulated environments.
