Resident Engineer

We are seeking a RESIDENT ENGINEER to join our Construction Management Team in the Albuquerque, NM area. This role involves providing technical leadership, construction engineering, and construction management for a variety of projects such as roadway/highway, bridges, utilities, and flood control features.

• Be knowledgeable in supervision and coordinate the work of Construction Services staff.
• Manage, coordinate, and supervise projects in accordance with contract documents, plans, and Federal, State, Municipal, and Tribal specifications.
• Verify and review project documentation for acceptance, including pay applications, change orders, submittals, shop drawings, cost reduction proposals, and traffic control modifications.
• Supervise, develop, and train construction inspectors, laboratory technicians, and other construction support staff assigned to a project.
• Direct, monitor, assign, and evaluate the work of a project and assigned staff.
• Conduct inspections and reviews of work in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
• Monitor quality control and quality assurance material field testing for concrete, steel, asphalt, and soils as applicable.
• Conduct field measurements of acceptable work and compile quantity reports for payment of quantities and changes.
• Review inspector daily reports in accordance with the project's requirements.
• Provide technical leadership for complex construction management projects or programs.
• Apply diversified knowledge of construction engineering principles and practices and independently make decisions on significant construction engineering problems.
• Manage technical field staff, contract administration, inspection, testing, surveying, and quality control on one large or several small construction projects.
• Supervise field inspection and field office personnel and manage sub‑consultants.
• Represent projects at meetings and conferences.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• BSCE degree in a relevant field such as Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Construction Technology.
• A minimum of 7 years of directly relevant experience, including Resident Engineer, Project Engineer, or related roles.
• Licensed professional engineer in New Mexico or ability to become licensed in NM within 3 months of hire.
• Demonstrated ability to read and fully understand contract documents.
• Working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and materials.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Valid, current New Mexico Driver's license.
• Responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adherence to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.
• Track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to comply with WSP’s health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

• Project Engineer skills.
• Bridge and highway construction inspection experience.
• New Mexico experience (NMDOT, Municipal projects).
