Overview

This New Mexico Team Leader position will serve the Planning, Permitting and Licensing Practice and collaborate with other practices and sectors within TRC. This position will have oversight of Planning, Permitting and Licensing natural and cultural resource teams in New Mexico. Reporting location across this region is flexible, but frequent trips to the Albuquerque, New Mexico Office will be required.

The New Mexico Team Leader will oversee a regional team of cultural resource and natural resource staff located in New Mexico and will interface and collaborate frequently with the Southern Plains Area Manager as well as the Regional Business Unit Leader and National Practice Leader. This person will:

  • Be responsible for ongoing area growth, leadership and operation of TRC's Planning, Permitting and Licensing New Mexico team, support and lead client development, and provide technical direction and leadership on major projects and pursuits.
  • Be responsible for managing an office P&L and fine‑tuning operations to achieve profitable performance.
  • Have a significant role in maintaining quality and profitability on TRC's projects, as well as assisting with managing and developing the skill‑sets of Project Managers and other employees and resources to ensure our projects are executed with a high level of efficiency and technical excellence.
  • Possess strong verbal, written, presentation and excellent client management skills; demonstrated ability leading and managing projects; as well as being goal oriented, quality focused, and have demonstrated success with creating and fostering a team environment.
  • Have a technical understanding of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) wetland/stream delineations, Clean Water Act (CWA) Section 404 permitting and Endangered Species Act (ESA) threatened and endangered species habitat assessments, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance, other New Mexico Federal, state, and local environmental permitting, and Cultural Resource Management under Section 106 in New Mexico.
  • Lead proposals and manage projects for a wide variety of markets including electric transmission, oil and gas, renewable energy (wind/solar) generation, and transportation.
  • Be able to effectively coordinate field work, direct and support other technical staff, interact in the field with clients, stakeholders and contractors, and manage budgets, invoicing and schedules.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to junior and mid‑level staff.
