Tax Accountant

Description We are looking for an experienced Tax Accountant to join our team in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This contract-to-permanent position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic firm where you will play a key role in managing individual and business tax returns, as well as providing tax planning services. The role provides extended hours during tax season and flexibility in the off-season, making it an ideal fit for someone seeking balance and opportunities for growth.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare a variety of tax returns, including individual and business filings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.

- Conduct detailed tax planning and analysis to help clients optimize their financial strategies.

- Handle quarterly estimates, extensions, and filings with precision and timeliness.

- Communicate directly with clients to collect necessary documentation and address inquiries.

- Work independently to manage seasonal workloads and meet deadlines.

- Assist with general accounting tasks as needed to support the firm's operations.

- Utilize tax preparation software such as CCH Pro System Fx to streamline processes and ensure accuracy.

- Stay updated on federal and state tax laws to provide informed guidance to clients. Requirements - Proven experience in preparing individual and corporate tax returns.

- Strong understanding of tax preparation practices and relevant software, such as CCH Pro System Fx.

- In-depth knowledge of federal and state tax regulations.

- CPA or EA certification is preferred but not mandatory.

- Ability to manage workload effectively during peak tax season and adjust to reduced hours afterward.

- Detail-oriented and committed to delivering high-quality work.

- Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients and colleagues.

- Previous experience in a small firm setting is advantageous.
