What We Seek:

The UNM Foundation's Finance team is searching for its newest Financial Specialist. We are seeking a new team member who models a positive and supportive approach in their work and is detail-oriented in handling accounting transactions and tasks. Someone who enjoys working within a team-based environment would thrive in this position.

What We Require:

Under supervision, the Financial Specialist performs basic accounting functions such as creating batches for payments to vendors, employee reimbursements and recording of daily cash receipts. Reviews all submitted expenditure requests or credit card payments for accuracy and completeness of documentation, and compliance with Foundation and University policies and procedures. Prepares journal entries, account reconciliations, and assists with quarterly/year-end close. Maintain confidentiality of financial, employee, and donor information.

The minimum education and experience required:

• High school diploma/GED.
• One year of directly related experience.
• Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience.

What We Prefer:

We prefer candidates with experience in financial system administration, processing accounting transactions, and preparing accurate reports and spreadsheets. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, database management, and general accounting functions-including cash management, payroll, and accounts payable-is highly valued. Strong attention to detail, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and with external partners are ideal.

Experience supporting audits and applying organizational policies and procedures is a plus.

Compensation Salary Range:

The expected annual compensation for this position is $40,000 to $45,000. This range is an estimate, and compensation will be determined based on the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, consideration of any approved geographic salary differential, and alignment with internal equity guidelines to ensure consistency across similar roles.
