SummaryProvides psychiatric screening assessments for Emergency Department patients and via telemedicine. Includes risk assessment, referral to appropriate level of care, and assessment to determine need for inpatient detoxification. Communicates with ED provider, nursing staff, charge nurse, on‑call psychiatrist, unit staff, collateral sources, registration department and insurance authorization personnel to ensure patients receive a timely, comprehensive assessment and a safe disposition.
Job DescriptionPresbyterian Healthcare Services seeks a licensed LCSW, LMFT, or LPCC to join our team providing emergency department behavioral health consultation to all Presbyterian Hospitals. The Psychiatric Emergency Services team provides psychiatric screening assessments for Emergency Department patients in person and via telemedicine to 7 hospitals throughout NM. The work is performed in the Emergency Department and is a fast paced and dynamic environment that allows for clinical work with high acuity patients.
Responsibilities- Perform psychotherapeutic process for each patient assigned, including assessment, diagnosis (when Masters prepared), care planning, intervention (including counseling patients/significant others in crisis, making referrals), and evaluation.
- Identify unmet needs or new nursing for therapy or medical services.
- Ensure timely and comprehensive assessment and safe disposition of patients.
- Master's degree and licensed LCSW, LPCC, or LMFT in New Mexico.
- Experience with psychiatric screening, risk assessment, and triage in an acute setting.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with ED staff and other stakeholders.
