Position Summary

The University of New Mexico, College of Nursing (CON) is recruiting an Assistant Dean of Faculty Practice. The Assistant Dean will be responsible for establishing, growing, and maintaining CON’s clinical business infrastructure, supporting faculty practice contracts, and creating revenue generating clinical services. In collaboration with CON Chief Financial Officer, this role ensures financial feasibility of clinical enterprises and ensures timely reporting of financial status across clinical enterprise to the Associate Dean and other required entities, addresses financial and budget concerns proactively, and serves as a key member of CON Leadership team reporting to the Associate Dean of Community and Clinical Affairs.

Responsibilities include clinical strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation of the clinical practice plans; leadership in promoting outcome-driven patient care; and collaboration with clinical agencies throughout the broader healthcare community in promoting excellence in education, research, and patient care. This position leads the development and evaluation of practice opportunities for faculty and clinical precepting experiences for nursing students.

Responsibilities
  • Identify, create, and/or secure collaborative faculty practice and community engagement opportunities and student clinical learning opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students
  • Generate opportunities such as new acute and community-based clinical expansion opportunities for fee‑for‑service, contracts, and grant‑funded health and healthcare programs
  • Promote the visibility of clinical practice initiatives within CON and the State of New Mexico
  • Develop and maintain agreements and contracts with affiliated agencies for patient care, faculty practice, and student clinical learning sites
  • Evaluate and address clinical performance, patient and staff satisfaction
  • Initiate the clinical peer review process in conjunction with annual performance evaluations
  • Collect, analyze, and report on faculty practice data
  • Serve on CON Administrative Leadership Team
  • Oversee all accreditations and credentialing requirements for CON clinical operations and practicing faculty
  • Create a system of accountability through the definition and reporting of quality metrics and productivity standards
  • Monitor and evaluate the cost effectiveness and quality of patient care at various clinical sites
  • Collaborate with leadership, clinical staff, faculty, and others to foster a climate of clinical and academic excellence; interprofessional initiatives; diversity, equity, and inclusion, interpersonal communication; and consensus building across the organization
