Piñon Perinatal is a Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) practice dedicated to providing exceptional care to pregnant patients. We are passionate about making a difference in the lives of pregnant patients in New Mexico.
The PositionWe are seeking a compassionate and motivated Diabetes Education Specialist to join our multidisciplinary team and provide outpatient diabetes counseling and management for patients with diabetes affecting their pregnancies.
The ideal candidate will have an interest in pregnancy and diabetes management. Experience in managing pregestational and gestational diabetes is preferred but not required.
A Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) credential is preferred but not required. Alternatively, a background as a registered nurse (RN) or registered dietitian (RD) is preferred.
Responsibilities- Provide individualized education, counseling, and support to patients with gestational diabetes.
- Collaborate with MFM physicians and Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialists (CDCES).
- Educate patients on glucose monitoring, nutrition, carbohydrate counting, meal planning, and healthy lifestyle choices.
- Review glucose readings and relevant laboratory results and assist with treatment recommendations within scope of practice.
- Monitor patient progress and provide ongoing follow-up and support.
- Complete appropriate documentation and prior authorizations as needed.
- Stay current with evidence-based practices in diabetes management and maternal care.
- Current CDCES credential, RN license, or RD credential.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing, Dietetics, Nutrition, or a related field.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Compassionate, patient-centered approach.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong interest in diabetes management and maternal-fetal medicine.
