Network Systems Administrator Senior
Position # – Full‑time, Permanent – Santa Fe or Albuquerque, NM
Job SummaryThe Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) seeks a classified Network Systems Administrator Senior to administer LAN and WAN services statewide. The role involves networking duties such as routing, switching, firewall administration, and command‑line management of network equipment. Knowledge of Linux and Windows Active Directory is a plus. The position may require a criminal background check.
Responsibilities- Build, configure, monitor, and troubleshoot systems, databases, and network servers.
- Ensure network connectivity and identify hardware needs for routers and switches.
- Monitor system security, identify vulnerabilities, and support incident response.
- Utilize change‑control methods for system software updates.
- Administer software licenses and firewalls.
- Perform and monitor server backups and restore procedures.
- Research new server technologies, methodologies, and hardware.
- Maintain development server environments to facilitate the flow of software projects.
- Design, test, and plan for modification and/or migration of replacement network systems.
- Implement plans for fully integrated systems, including operating, network, and database environments.
- Ensure operating system software is properly installed, tested, and configured.
- Document processes and procedures for server administration and monitor internet usage.
- Develop workstation images, install software, and migrate hardware.
- Upgrade and patch hardware and software; assign passwords and appropriate access levels.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Management, IT, or related field.
- Four (4) years of directly related experience may substitute for a degree.
- Five (5) years of general experience in systems design, administration, or network administration in a multi‑user environment, including at least two (2) years as a system or network administrator in a multi‑user client‑server environment.
- Master’s degree may substitute for experience at a rate of 30 semester hours per experience year; education cannot replace required specific experience.
- Knowledge of server operating systems, network operations and best practices, security, backup strategies, troubleshooting, virtualization, and storage management.
