On-Call REACH Clinic Spanish Interpreter

Position Summary:
The Division of Physical Therapy is seeking a Spanish interpreter to assist at a physical therapy lab (REACH) that offers free services to uninsured and underinsured populations. The clinic operates every Thursday evening on North campus from 3:30 - 7:30PM during fall and spring semesters. Applicants should be committed to attending every Thursday evening during fall and spring semesters from October through April.
- Verbal interpretation between physical therapy students and Spanish‑speaking lab participants.
- Assisting with intake and consent forms.
- Interpreting medical intake forms for students.
- Typing Spanish instructions for home exercise programs and other patient education documents.
- Must successfully pass the UNMH Interpreter/Translator Medical Qualification Test.
- Must submit post‑offer pre‑employment physical examination and medical history check.
- High school diploma or GED; at least 2 years of related experience.
- Interpreter/Translator Certificate and/or Certificate of Competency from an approved training program.
- Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution above the minimum education may be substituted for experience on a year‑for‑year basis.
- Certified Spanish‑language interpreter.
- Ability to speak, read, and write Spanish.
- Ability to maintain quality, safety, and infection control standards.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Ability to conduct self professionally and cordially.
- Basic understanding of medical terminology in Spanish.
- Basic understanding of the healthcare system.
