The Mid-Region Council of Governments (MRCOG) / Workforce Connection of Central New Mexico (WCCNM) seeks professionals to work as part of an interdisciplinary team to assist with the management of the scope of work as outlined in the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Adult  Dislocated Worker grant.

Responsibilities

WIOA Grant provisions include, but are not limited to: establishing links with employers and local businesses; market the workforce and WIOA Adult / Dislocated Worker program and services to employers to create job opportunities and job placements for participants; serves as the liaison between employers, the WIOA staff, and the New Mexico Workforce Connection Business and Career Center; responsible for the coordination, development, recruitment, maintenance, and outreach activities to prospective employers, and;

determines employer’s staffing and training needs, develops solutions for employers utilizing the services of the WIOA program and other partner resources (i.e. filling vacant positions, internships, customized incumbent worker training, OJT and OJT Skill-upgrades, etc.). The Business Consultant shall be a highly self-motivated individual committed to community-based socioeconomic development, with a background in work force development, knowledge of local needs and trends in workforce development, and the ability to establish links with business leaders.

Works to implement policies set forth by the WCCNM and the MRCOG through their local Workforce Connections office, while implementing the goals set forth to the Central Area Local Workforce Development Board.

Positions will be in the counties of:
Bernalillo, Sandoval, or Valencia.

Qualifications

Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Must possess the ability to maintain a professional, confidential, and calm demeanor. Qualifications include bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Business Management, Public Administration, Economics, Communication, Social Science, or related field from a recognized 4-year college or university and 2 years of experience in similar position or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Training in personnel management is an asset. Experience with interviewing and consulting with employers to assess and to record information regarding training needs, education needs, employment needs, and labor market trends to fully explore career development opportunities for customers. Preference will be provided for applicants that have experience and knowledge with the WIOA Adult and Dislocated Work Program.
