• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments including medical histories, physical exams, and diagnostic testing.
• Identify and diagnose acute, chronic, and complex health conditions.
• Develop individualized care plans addressing patient needs, treatment goals and expected outcomes.
• Prescribe medications, therapies, and medical devices.

• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Selective Service registration required for males born after 12/31/1959.
• Must be able to pass an E‑Verify employment verification check.
• Must comply with IHS background investigation, fingerprint check, and medical staff clinical privileges.
• On‑call hours or standby duty may be required.
• Must obtain and maintain a full, active, unrestricted nursing license or registration as a professional nurse from a state, DC, PR, or U.S. territory.

Basic Requirements.

• Graduate or higher‑level degree in nursing from an accredited professional nursing educational program. For foreign graduates, official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGNFS) is required.
• For advanced practice nurse positions, a graduate or higher‑level degree in nursing with a relevant clinical specialty.
• Current, active, full and unrestricted license and registration as a professional nurse; for advanced practice nurses, a specialty license is required.
• At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower federal grade level (e.g., GS‑12 for APN). Experience includes both private and public sector work.

Additional Requirements.

• Compliance with all IHS policies, including the Immunization Policy and COVID‑19 policies.
• Ability to obtain and maintain medical staff clinical privileges.
• Willingness to serve on a 6‑month service agreement for relocation incentives, if offered.
