Position Overview
The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) will provide full‑scope anesthesia services to Veterans at the Raymond G. Murphy VA Medical Center. This role supports a physician‑supervised anesthesia care team and requires a highly skilled, board‑certified professional capable of delivering safe, effective, and timely anesthesia care in both OR and selected non‑OR settings. The CRNA will adhere to all VA policies, VHA directives, and facility medical staff bylaws while providing care that meets or exceeds national anesthesia standards.
Key Responsibilities Clinical Duties- Deliver anesthesia care across 10 operating rooms and multiple non‑OR procedural areas, including ECT, IR, MRI, GI, pulmonary, and cath lab.
- Provide anesthesia for a wide variety of surgical specialties, including urology, orthopedics, gynecology, general surgery, vascular, cardiothoracic, ENT, plastics, and ophthalmology.
- Assist with inpatient and outpatient pre‑operative screening assessments as needed.
- Document all care in the VA’s electronic health record (CPRS) according to facility guidelines.
- Maintain compliance with national standards established by ASA, AANA, Joint Commission, and AHA.
- Uphold patient safety, infection control, HIPAA, and all clinical quality expectations.
- Manage an average caseload of approximately 23 cases per month per FTE.
- Work collaboratively under physician supervision, typically in a 1:2–3 CRNA‑to‑physician ratio.
- Monday–Thursday: 06:30–15:00
- Friday: 07:30–16:00
No nights, no call, no in‑house call, and no after‑hours coverage requirements.
Monthly schedule is posted approximately one month in advance.
Required Qualifications Licensure & Certification- Current, full, and unrestricted RN and CRNA license in any U.S. state or territory.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible through NBCRNA.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Must meet all VA immunization and health screening requirements, including TB testing, MMR, Varicella, Tdap, annual Influenza vaccine, and Hepatitis B compliance.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a CRNA.
- New graduates are not accepted for this role.
- Must complete VA credentialing and privileging through Vet Pro.
- Credentialing typically requires up to four weeks; security clearance generally takes three to four weeks.
- Strong proficiency administering anesthesia in a complex, multidisciplinary clinical environment.
- Ability to document care accurately using CPRS.
- Effective communication and collaboration within a physician‑supervised anesthesia team.
