American Traveler is hiring a Medical Surgical RN for a day-shift position requiring 1 year of experience and a NM or compact RN license.

• Medical Surgical unit with a 1:6 patient ratio
• Day shift schedule, 4x12 hours from 6:30 to 19:00
• 36 or 48 hour weekly options available
• Weekend requirement of 6 weekend shifts within a 6 week period
• Float to units of equal acuity as needed with brief orientation provided

• Active NM or compact RN license required, pending license accepted if obtained prior to start
• BLS certification required, CPI preferred
• Minimum of 1 year Medical Surgical nursing experience required
• First time travelers accepted if they have at least 24 months of nursing experience
• Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line and PICC line management required
• Experience with respiratory care including chest tubes, HFNC, nasal cannula, and oxygen administration required
• Experience with wound care, wound vac, and isolation precautions/PPE required
• Experience managing colostomy/ileostomy, feeding tubes, and surgical drains required
• Experience with heparin, insulin, and PCA medication administration required
• Experience with renal failure and pre/post hemodialysis management required
• CVA care experience preferred
• Epic charting experience preferred

• Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical unit including wound care, IV therapy, and respiratory support
• Must reside outside a 50 mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
• Former staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
• Travel pairs or groups will not be accepted
• First time travelers are welcome to apply with sufficient nursing experience
