American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Neuro unit position requiring NIHSS certification and at least 1 year of recent experience.

• 32-bed Med/Surg Neuro unit
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (6:30 AM-7:00 PM)
• Nurse to patient ratio of 1:6
• Epic charting system used
• No on-call requirements
• Floating to like units as needed, with brief orientation provided
• Weekend requirement of 6 weekend shifts within 6 weeks
• Rapid response team activation involved in daily operations

• Active RN license (NM or Compact) required prior to start
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• CPI certification preferred
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg Neuro nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line and PICC line management required
• Respiratory care skills including chest tube management, HFNC, and oxygen administration required
• Experience with CVA, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions/PPE required
• Experience managing renal failure and pre/post hemodialysis patients required
• Experience with surgical drains and colostomy/ileostomy care required

• Provide direct patient care on a Med/Surg Neuro unit including medication administration, wound care, and respiratory support
• Participate in rapid response team activations as needed
• First-time travelers will be considered if they have at least 24 months of nursing experience
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility as locals are not accepted
• Previous staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• No travel pairs or groups accepted
