We’re hiring a Quality Superintendent at Albuquerque Public Schools
.
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Quality Superintendent with a strong background in construction quality control, inspections, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate is committed to upholding high standards, resolving quality issues efficiently, and supporting project success through proactive quality management.
Essential Functions- Oversee and implement the project‑specific Quality Management Plan (QMP) on‑site
- Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and quality standards
- Conduct daily inspections and quality control checks throughout all phases of construction
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to resolve quality‑related issues promptly
- Document all inspection results, non‑conformance reports (NCRs), and corrective actions
- Ensure materials and workmanship meet company, client, and regulatory standards
- Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Support the preparation and review of quality documentation, including Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), method statements, and quality reports
- Facilitate quality‑related training and toolbox talks for site staff and subcontractors
- Interface with third‑party inspectors, regulatory agencies, and client representatives as required
- Participate in internal and external audits to maintain compliance with ISO and other quality certifications
- Regular travel to project sites to support quality oversight across multiple locations
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in quality control or quality assurance within the construction industry
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently to project sites, including overnight stays
- Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulatory codes
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 and other applicable quality standards
- Strong understanding of safety, environmental, and quality regulations in construction
- Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Proficiency in quality management software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), ASQ certification, or equivalent is a plus

This position may have supervisory responsibilities.
Work EnvironmentWork is primarily performed on active construction sites, which may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, uneven terrain, and high‑noise environments. The role requires frequent travel to project locations, which may include remote or rural areas. The Quality Superintendent must be comfortable working in dynamic, fast‑paced job sites where coordination with multiple stakeholders is essential. While much of the work is field‑based, some tasks, such as documentation and reporting, will be completed in a site office or remote setting.
Adherence to all site‑specific safety protocols and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods, climb ladders and scaffolding, and navigate active construction zones. The Quality Superintendent must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally and perform tasks that require bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching.
Good visual acuity and manual dexterity are essential for inspections and handling tools or equipment. The role may also involve long periods of travel and working irregular hours to meet project demands.
This is a full‑time non‑union position. The scheduled hours are 40 to 50 hours per week Monday through Friday but may be extended as required to execute the tasks assigned.
