SummaryBuild your career. Make a difference. Presbyterian is hiring a skilled Security Technician to protect patients, employees, visitors, and all those who come in contact with PHS. The role requires working knowledge of security equipment and systems, performing hazard and risk surveillance, and executing the security program.
Responsibilities- Conduct routine and ad‑hoc patrols of hospital buildings and premises to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and unauthorized visitors.
- Conduct hazard surveillance for safety, security, and infection control issues.
- Interact and professionally manage issues with employees, physicians, visitors, contractors, and vendors who come in contact with PHS.
- Collaborate with local, state and federal agencies as required and approved by PHS.
- Respond to calls for key service, vehicle assistance, and escort duties in a timely manner.
- Control parking and traffic flow, enforce parking policies and issue citations as required.
- Monitor visitor conduct on hospital premises; confront possible unauthorized persons for questioning when needed.
- Perform heavy lifting of 50 pounds or more for at least 33% of shifts when self‑defense is necessary.
- Assist with lifting patients, visitors, staff, and deceased persons as needed.
- Assist medical staff in restraining violent, agitated, or hostile persons.
- Be capable of long periods of standing and foot patrols.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Less than one year experience in general security, though one year of security experience is preferred.
- Effective written, verbal, and documentation communication skills.
- Ability to perform all requirements and complete training of a security technician.
- Demonstrate familiarity with hospital locations and operations within 6 months of hire.
- All facilities require the ability to drive a company‑owned vehicle.
- Current New Mexico driver’s license and be insurable by Presbyterian Healthcare Services.
- High School Diploma or GED (essential).
