POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):
Alutiiq Logistics and Maintenance Services, LLC has an exciting opportunity supporting the Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration on Kirtland AFB, Albuquerque, NM.
The Fire Alarm System Mechanic is responsible for the effective management of assigned tools, equipment and other resources in the accomplishment of contract requirements in performance of services, installations and repairs of Fire alarm control systems and Sprinkler systems in the John
A. Gordon Albuquerque Complex (JAGAC) utilizing knowledge of Fire theory, pipe fitting and structural layout.
The Fire Alarm System Mechanic will:
- Responsible for performing specialized skilled tasks pertaining to fire alarm systems and fire suppression systems to include pumps, valves and motors.
- Duties include establishing and maintaining fire alarm testing and inspection programs, assuring all fire alarm systems have passed inspection, establishing a training program to assure proper operation of fire alarm systems, monitoring inspection schedules, and initiating minor repairs to fire alarm systems.
- Uses specialized tools and testing instruments of the electrical trade. Supervision is received from an administrative superior who reviews work for technical quality and adherence to established policies and procedures.
- Inspects fire alarm equipment visually and replaces defective components.
- Tests initiating and signal circuits, detectors, and system transmitter and makes needed repairs.
- Locates and diagnoses trouble in electrical systems or equipment.
- Work involves planning and layout of work from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions.
- Operates motor vehicles in accordance with company vehicle policies.
R - Complies with applicable federal, state, and Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) environmental laws and regulations.
- Follows ALMS furnished information and directives; ALMS Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ALMS Policies and Procedures, and contract requirements.
- Complies with health and safety rules and procedures; performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment.
- Inspect and maintain Notification Appliance Circuit (NAC) controllers
- Inspect and perform maintenance on both wet and dry riser
- Perform preventive maintenance on fire pumps
- Serve as POC for the project on all matters concerning Fire Alarm System
- Assist sub-contractor personnel
- Be familiar with Fire System Sprinkler Design and Layout
- Service and repair the Public Address System
EXPERIENCE:
Required:
NlCET Level II certification required. Two-year certificate from college or technical school; or five to seven years journeyman level fire alarm experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred:
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must be fluent in English. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY:Ability to interpret and apply codes, blueprints, wiring diagrams and engineering drawings.…
