Position Summary
Perform repair, maintenance, and installation of all piping systems to include cooling/heating lines & related components as well as steam lines and related equipment. Maintain compliance with national and state plumbing codes and accrediting agencies such as TJC, NFPA, and administration guidelines. Ensure a safe and uninterrupted service to patients and all staff members. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures.
No patient care assignment.
Receive 17% weekday nights, 26% weekend nights, and 15% weekend day shift differentials.

Responsibilities- Inspect, install, repair, and maintain all pipes to include cooling/heating lines & related components as well as steam lines and related equipment.
- Repairs any malfunction or discrepancy to supervisor.
- Perform welding, brazing, and cutting.
- Install new piping to include cooling/heating lines & related heating lines & related components as well as steam lines and related equipment or plumbing related equipment as needed or scheduled.
- Repair or replace plumbing related equipment or piping to include cooling/heating lines & related components as well as steam lines and related equipment as needed or scheduled.
- Maintain all waste and vent lines in compliance to national and state plumbing codes and governing agencies such as TJC and NFPA.
- Maintain all compliance records.
- Report any repairs or maintenance needed throughout the building or grounds dealing with area of specialization or outside area of specialization.
- Responsible for all hospital owned tools; ensure tools are in safe operating condition; report any unsafe tools needing repair to the supervisor.
- Maintain and clean tools and shop area; maintain shop area in operational condition.
- Assist other maintenance departments as required by supervisor.
- Participate in cross‑training programs that will help carry out duties throughout the department.
- Keep supervisor informed of his/her location at all times.
- High School or GED Equivalent.
3 years directly related experience.
Credentials- Med Gas Certificate within 1 year of employment.
- Journeyman Plumber License in New Mexico.
- Valid New Mexico Driver's License.
- UNM Vehicle Operator's Permit within 60 days.
Medium Work:
Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
- Med Haz:
Moderate exposure to chemicals/dangerous equipment/materials. - Subject to random alcohol and substance testing.
- May be required or is required to perform on‑call duties.
- Tuberculosis testing is completed upon hire and additionally as required.
