Overview
Airport Manager - LOC FIFA U-17 Women World Cup India 2022. This position is responsible for the implementation of all Travel & Transport Operations for the LOC. It requires operationalizing strategies across transport areas including movement of teams, delegates and equipment; transportation and installation of overlays at venues; coordination with government agencies (e.g., Ministry of External Affairs, Airports Authority of India) for visa procedures and other requirements;
and liaising with foreign embassies on visa matters. The role involves working with FIFA, AIFF and venue partners to establish agreements with transport vendors/contractors and coordinating FIFA requirements. It also entails collaborating with the LOC Executive Leadership to develop strategies, action plans, protocols and business plans aligned with the organization mission and vision.
The event will be hosted in India in 2022 with a wide global reach and a focus on delivering high standards of organisation and operations across multiple venues.
Responsibilities- Understand and assist in the implementation of the detailed Arrival & Departure process in all areas under responsibility.
- Execute all Airport Operation plans for events leading up to the main tournament (FIFA visits, promotional events, etc.).
- Assist the Event Services department with requirements related to Air Travel, Ground Transport, Visa, and Customs at airports.
- Liaise with Airports Authorities for day-to-day requirements (Immigration, Customs & Meet & Greet Services) during the tournament.
- Implement FIFA requirements in the Airport Arrivals & Departures process.
- Coordinate with Central and State Government Departments for assistance from Local Traffic Police, Security, Vehicle Movements, etc.
- Work with Airport Authorities on Airport Passes for staff & volunteers.
- Serve as the main point of contact for all requirements at the airports.
- Manage a team of volunteers to assist at the airport during arrivals and departures.
- Provide daily updates and reports to the Assistant Director – Event Services on the status of arrivals & departures for teams, VIPs, officials, staff, dignitaries, etc.
To be agreed by the Assistant Director – Event Services and Project Director once the hiring process concludes and there is a definite plan for this area.
Key Performance IndicatorsWill be communicated in due time in accordance with goals established between FIFA and the LOC for the World Cup. Indicators will be based on venue preparedness and FIFA satisfaction with overall operational requirements.
Candidate Profile- Administrator, Travel Operator, Project Manager or other professional with experience in Operations, Logistics, Transport, Competitions or Venue Management in public or private organizations.
- Minimum two years of relevant experience.
- Experience in implementing competitions and events.
- Experience in Transport, Logistics, Customs and Government Relations.
- Ability to understand and measure the effectiveness of policies implemented.
- Ability to work and find solutions under pressure; strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Experience in Ground Transport and Air Transport movements.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Work experience in sport organizations or government agencies is a plus.
- Work experience in tours and travel is a plus.
- Knowledge of airline booking systems is a plus.
- Bachelor or postgraduate degree in Sports Management, Operations, Logistics, Management or similar is a plus.
- Respectful attitude towards subordinates in high-pressure moments.
