Fleet Maintenance Manager
FLEET TECH – UNM Hospital
Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Fleet Manager, this position is responsible for assisting in the delivery of UNM Hospital’s fleet maintenance program. The role includes maintenance for shop, yard, and fuel islands; vehicle transportation; assistance with vehicle intake and disposal; and minor vehicle servicing. The role ensures adherence to Hospital and departmental policies and procedures. No patient care assignment.

Responsibilities:
- Maintain electronic vehicle maintenance logs.
- Safely operate hospital vehicles in compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Deliver and pick up vehicles from local maintenance/repair facilities.
- Refuel departmental vehicles, maintain tire pressure, check and refill vitals, wash and vacuum vehicles, and keep interiors clean and serviceable.
- Maintain shop, yard, and fuel islands, disposal of used material, cleanup of fluid spills, restock containment supplies.
- Perform weekly manual fuel tank stick measurements, add/remove vehicle decals, inspect, transport, wash, and fuel vehicles; retrieve parts and maintain information on computer.
- Perform or assist in daily safety and service inspections, routine system diagnoses, basic maintenance and repairs.
- Adhere to quality guidelines; maintain maintenance schedules and non-scheduled repairs; notify supervisor of required parts and negative trends.
- Ensure proper care of equipment and supplies; promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
- Assist other department personnel as needed.
- Enhance professional growth and development through educational programs and workshops.
Qualifications:
Education (Essential): High School or GED Equivalent.
Experience (Essential): One year of light automotive maintenance and driving experience.
Nonessential
Experience:
3 years directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Credentials (Essential):
- Valid New Mexico Driver's License.
- UNM Vehicle Operator's Permit within 60 days.
Nonessential Credentials: Vocational Certificate in a related specialized field.
Physical Conditions: Medium Work:
Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or more than 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Working Conditions:
- Moderate hazard exposure to chemicals/dangerous equipment/materials.
- Subject to random alcohol and substance testing.
