Oiler/Rigger/Driver – RMS Cranes (Albuquerque, NM)
Location: Albuquerque, NM
Reports to: Branch Manager
Compensation: Pay will vary depending on experience, competitive wage and comprehensive benefits package including health benefits, per diem, and overtime opportunities.
Summary: RMS is looking for an energetic, enthusiastic Oiler/Rigger/Driver to join our growing team. In this entry‑level position, you will assist the crane operator on job tasks during the operation of the crane and provide rigging operation and hand signals to ensure safe lifting of the load. You will load and secure equipment (spreader bars, mats, counterweights, etc.) and drive the truck to the job location.
You must follow all state and federal laws while operating the vehicle and observe all safety and environmental policies while working on the job site.
- Assists the crane operator in setting up the equipment.
- Assists the crane operator in maintaining the crane and accessory equipment (pickup trucks, haul trucks, trailers, etc.).
- Performs proper rigging techniques to ensure safe lifting of the load.
- Utilizes proper hand signals during all crane operations.
- Secures equipment to the trailer before operating the truck.
- Inspects truck and trailer, fills out inspection report, and turns it in to the supervisor.
- Reports mechanical defects on the truck or trailers to shop technicians or supervisors.
- Monitors inventory of chains, boomer, and straps; reports missing equipment and performs maintenance on them.
- Documents and submits all maintenance and repairs performed on equipment to the supervisor.
- Cleans the vehicle’s exterior and cab area daily.
- Monitors the annual state inspection and license plate renewal, reporting to supervisor at least one month before expiration.
- Reports to dispatcher immediately upon completion of the assigned task for the next assignment.
- At the end of the shift, reviews next day’s job assignment and prepares all necessary rigging and equipment.
- Completes payroll timesheet with hours worked, submitting hours to the branch office by 7:00 a.m. every Monday.
- If not on a job assignment, remains productive by cleaning, inspecting, and performing maintenance in the shop.
- Carries and answers phone as required.
- Periodically reviews assigned crane and other model cranes’ service and operation manuals.
- Maintains a clean and organized shop and yard; cleans shop, washes rack, and break room.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current state‑issued CDL Class A driver’s license.
- 1–3 years of rigging and commercial driving experience.
