Mechanical Engineer

Arconic is currently in search of a Staff Mechanical Engineer to join our Hotline Department based in Alcoa, TN.

Arconic Tennessee Operations seeks a talented Staff Mechanical Engineer. This role provides engineering support to maintenance, safety, quality, and operations. Responsibilities include restoring product flow, providing technical solutions to recurring problems, analyzing equipment and process data to identify opportunities for improvement, and developing system improvements to address those opportunities.

• Provide engineering support to maintenance and operations across the department, including restoring flow during breakdowns and developing preventative maintenance systems (including during the off shift).
• Troubleshoot equipment and process problems to root cause, providing engineered solutions.
• Manage large equipment rebuilds – development, justification, management and implementation of these projects.
• Develop technical equipment expertise for the department and provide technical leadership.
• Support the department’s Quality, Safety, and Environmental goals.

• This position is eligible for a relocation benefit. Travel may be up to 10%.
• This role has after‑hours support responsibilities which may include calls/texts after hours, on weekends, and during holidays. In some cases, on‑site support may be required.

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or aerospace engineering from an accredited college/university.
• Minimum of 3 years of work experience as a Mechanical Engineer or similar.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States (visa sponsorship not available).

• 5+ years of work experience as a Mechanical Engineer or similar.
• Experience designing, fabricating and installing mechanical equipment.
• Experience in justifying, managing and installing projects.
• Experience in Solid Works or similar CAD software of at least 1 year.
• Proficient problem‑solving and creative thinking skills.
• Strong maintenance background.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience working with cross‑functional teams.
• Understanding of manufacturing techniques such as lean manufacturing, JIT, SPC, TQM, etc.
• Working knowledge of lubrication, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
