JOB DESCRIPTION
The Hot Rolling Mechanical/Process Engineer has responsibilities that include best practice development and deployment, solving problems with global systemic and plant specific focus, driving process efficiencies through lowering costs and improving quality, training operators and other technologists, and implementing new technologies. This position will serve as the corporate expert for Hot Rolling in the company. This position reports to the Manager of Rolling Technology.
The position requires the individual to be able to work well with a broad group of cultures. The position requires the desire and ability to travel extensively (around 50%) with a portion of the travel being international.
- Optimization of process equipment for improving quality and capacity.
- Solve equipment and process problems for the company's rolling plants.
- Drive resolution of chronic problems within area of expertise; lead problem solving teams & organize support from other resources when necessary.
- Develop and deploy Standard Practices for the different hot rolling processes, assist in identifying improvement opportunities, and facilitate technology transfer.
- Maintain a working relationship with vendors of hot rolling equipment and be knowledgeable of external developments in hot rolling processes.
- Provide engineering and operational support for large capital improvement projects.
- Sponsor, participate, and occasionally lead hot rolling development projects.
- Be relied upon by plant resources for advice and direction on capital and process solutions.
- Participate in technical assessments of facilities and individual pieces of equipment.
- Provide equipment, control, and process training to the technical base.
- Support Major Customers-Global GRP locations.
- Minimum education requirement:
Bachelors Degree in mechanical engineering or related field. - Minimum experience requirement: 5 total years of manufacturing experience, with a minimum of 3 years in hot rolling.
- Must be a self-starter with ability to determine priorities based upon specific business needs.
