NURSE PRACTITIONER – Urology Specialist – Regional

Full‑time, 80 per pay period, day shift. Travel required between Fort Sanders Regional and Alcoa office.

Provides primary care to patients under the supervision of a physician preceptor, following established medical protocols. Works in hospital and office clinic to assist with patient consults, perform admits and discharges, and see patients.

• Maintains departmental policies, procedures, quality assurance program, and safety standards.
• Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with other specialists, and adjusts processes to ensure optimal patient care.
• Collaborates with physician preceptor to formulate and review medical protocols.
• Obtains complete medical history, performs physical exam, obtains laboratory specimens, and analyzes data for diagnosis and treatment.
• Monitors accuracy of recording in patient records, documents all pertinent information accurately and timely.
• Follows Medicare guidelines for accuracy in CPT and ICD coding.
• Applies AIDET communication fundamentals, refers patients to appropriate services outside scope, provides health promotion counseling.
• Serves as resource for staff, may supervise clinical staff, maintains professional growth through continuing education.
• Participates in quality improvement initiatives, attends meetings, and completes required education annually.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Education: None specified; must meet license and certification standards.
• Experience: None.
• Licensure: Must meet State Nurse Practitioner requirements; CPR required. Must hold relevant specialty certification (e.g., AANP, ANCC, AACN, etc.).
• Certification: Acceptable certifications include:
  Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Adult Gerontology Primary Care NPC, Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, Women’s Health Care NPC, etc. (see list).
