Yard Operative (Full Time, Reading) – £13.21 per hour, Monday to Friday, 07:00–17:00, with voluntary Saturday overtime. Hours:

07:00 - 17:00, Monday to Friday

We are currently recruiting for a Yard Operative to join a busy manufacturing team based near Aldermaston. This is a hands‑on role working with welding materials, sheet metal and structural parts. You will assist with preparing materials, welding panels, grinding surfaces and supporting general yard and workshop duties. Full training will be provided, so previous welding experience is not essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Working with welding materials, sheet metal and structural components.
  • Preparing and handling metal materials.
  • Assisting with welding panels following training.
  • Grinding and preparing metal surfaces.
  • Using hand and power tools safely.
  • Moving and organising materials around the yard.
  • Supporting general workshop and yard duties.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
  • Following all health and safety procedures.
Requirements
  • Previous yard, workshop, manufacturing or construction experience is desirable.
  • Welding or fabrication experience is an advantage, but full training is provided.
  • Must be physically fit, as the role involves manual handling and working with metal materials.
  • Must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Reliable, hardworking and willing to learn.
  • Able to work well as part of a team.
  • Own transport is desirable due to the location and accessibility of the site.
