Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join an established engineering business specialising in bespoke automation machinery and material-handling solutions.

Working within the design and production office, you will take ownership of projects from initial concept and layout through to detailed design, manufacture, installation and customer approval. This is a hands-on role combining mechanical design, project coordination, customer liaison and technical leadership.

• Prepare initial project layouts and develop detailed design proposals.
• Produce general arrangement drawings, detail drawings and parts lists/BOM schedules.
• Liaise with Sales to understand project specifications and customer requirements.
• Manage project budgets and work closely with Purchasing to maintain costs.
• Produce final build and installation drawings.
• Issue jobs to the assembly workshop and liaise with technicians throughout the build.
• Provide technical support to customers and assist with resolving design or application queries.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while working to tight deadlines.
• Visit customer sites to measure equipment and verify layout drawings.
