The purpose of this classification it to perform advanced technical work that involves installing, inspecting, maintaining, testing, and repairing assorted natural gas equipment as well as adjusting and monitoring gas pressure ad volume in the natural gas system. This position is subject to 24-hour call.
Installs, maintains, tests, repairs, adjusts, and inspects reliefs, regulators, control valves, meters, and stations; inspects work performed by contractors on regulator stations.
Reads and interprets monthly charts and reports; computes bills.
Prepares and processes necessary paperwork and reports as required by department policies and procedures.
Receives calls and prepares work orders.
Coordinates and performs any field work or troubleshooting required with SCADA System Operators on the SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system.
High School diploma or GED; supplemented by three (3) years experience in the testing, maintenance, and repair of regulators, reliefs, control valves, meters and assorted equipment in the SCADA network; or any equivalent combination, of education training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Will be required to obtain a valid State of Louisiana driver’s license at time of appointment and maintain throughout employment for this classification.
Must obtain certifications as required by the Office of Pipeline Safety within six months of hire.
