Position Purpose - Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks
The purpose of this position is to proactively solicit new residential mortgage clients while developing and cultivating a strong business network of referrals. A Loan Officer analyzes a borrower’s financial and credit data to determine creditworthiness and the probability of repayment.
Responsibilities- Develop new business opportunities and sales leads by cultivating relationships with realtors, builders, bankers, and other professionals.
- Provide solid PRMI product knowledge and match clients with the best mortgage products to meet their needs.
- Review application information, requesting specific supporting documentation as required by loan investor guidelines.
- Use independent judgment and discretion to advance PRMI’s business objectives and protect customer interests.
- Collect and analyze information regarding income, assets, investments, or debts.
- Analyze applicant data, credit, and collateral property value.
- Determine which financial products best fit the customer’s needs and financial circumstances.
- Provide advice to customers regarding the advantages and disadvantages of available financial products.
- Market, service, or promote PRMI’s financial products.
- Complete required continuing education in a timely manner and remain current on local developments and trends within real estate and mortgage industries.
- Provide origination services in the state of licensure.
- Maintain excellent business relationships with a referral client base, creating new mortgage lending opportunities.
- Correspond, communicate, and coordinate with clients, in‑house support staff, and external service providers to facilitate timely closings.
- Sales experience in the mortgage industry preferred.
- Familiarity with mortgage processes, procedures, rules, regulations, and compliance.
- Exceptional customer service skills with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong computer skills, including a working knowledge of MS Office.
- Ability to comprehend and analyze financial information.
- Ability to effectively communicate and present complex financial information while fielding queries from applicants, support staff, and management.
- Established contact and referral list within the real estate and mortgage industries preferred.
- Ability to pass a required background check.
