Job Summary and Qualifications

Pharmacy technicians assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing drugs, maintaining the drug inventory and maintenance of records. Pharmacy technicians work under supervision of a pharmacist and perform only duties allowed by applicable laws.

What you will do in this role:

  • Accurately fill unit dose medication orders from labels generated by pharmacist
  • Prepare sterile products accurately under USP Guidelines. Restock medication and IV dispensing areas.
  • Make rounds to each nursing unit as per policy and as directed by pharmacist
  • Accurately identify and fill replacement medications on emergency crash carts/totes and floor stock.
  • Issue requisitioned drugs to other departments as per policy.
  • Participate in maintaining adequate inventory levels. Obtain medication based on PAR levels and in conjunction with formulary initiatives. Work with DOP or designee as needed in inventory management incentives.
  • Participate in maintaining department formulary initiatives. Communicate with appropriate medical, nursing and allied health professional staff members with regard to non-formulary decisions. Work with DOP or designees as needed in formulary clinical review process
  • Complete assigned nursing unit inspections per policy.
  • Accurately fill medication carts
  • Enter charges and credits into pharmacy computer system in a timely manner
  • Answer telephone and direct calls to appropriate personnel.
  • Accurately load and refill Pyxis
  • Other duties as assigned by DOP, ADOP, Clinical Manager, or charge pharmacist.
