Branch Manager- MGA Commercial Underwriting

Seeking a highly motivated and experienced Branch Manager to lead and oversee operations. This role is pivotal in managing a well-established book of business, mentoring a dedicated team, and driving growth within the commercial lines sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in underwriting, management, and binding authority, with a proven track record in leadership and business development.

Compensation Package
  • Base Salary:
    Starting at $100,000+ annually, commensurate with experience.
  • Benefits:
    Comprehensive benefits package, including 401(k) plan.
  • Work Environment:
    Primarily in-office with occasional travel (approximately once a month) to meet with agents, focusing on Los Angeles-based business.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee and manage a book of business valued at $18M-$20M, consisting of 80% binding and 20% brokerage accounts.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor a team including underwriters, personal lines staff, and support staff.
  • Act as the primary point of contact between the underwriting team and senior leadership.
  • Provide guidance on markets, coverages, and underwriting decisions.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure the growth and profitability of the branch.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with agents and clients.
  • Occasionally travel to meet with agents and foster business relationships.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • 5-7 years of experience in a production role, with a background in binding, MGA, and small to mid-size accounts.
  • Proven experience in management or informal leadership roles, with the ability to coach and develop a team.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial lines, including property and casualty insurance.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • A results-driven mindset with a focus on achieving business growth and operational excellence.
