Busser, Server/Wait Staff
A restaurant busser's responsibilities include keeping the dining area clean and presentable, setting tables, and helping the waitstaff:
Cleaning:
Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors, as well as wiping down tables and polishing glassware and silverware
Setting tables:
Placing silverware, glassware, napkins, and condiments on tables
Clearing tables:
Removing dirty dishes, glasses, and silverware from tables
Refilling:
Refilling water glasses, coffee, and hot tea, as well as condiment dispensers
Supporting waitstaff:
Helping servers with tasks like bringing side plates and sauce ramekins, and alerting servers when glasses need to be refilled
Communicating:
Communicating effectively and courteously with guests and co-workers
Maintaining:
Ensuring the stock area is stocked with clean linens, silverware, glassware, trays, and dishes
Bussers may also be responsible for restocking bus stations, emptying garbage and linen bags, and performing other daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance.
Some qualifications for a busser job include:
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, Good communication skills, Physical stamina and mobility, and Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
