SUMMARY:
The Retail Sales Associate provides friendly and efficient customer service while supporting register operations, sales-floor recovery, stocking, merchandising, and merchandise rotation. The position accurately processes customer transactions, assists customers throughout the store, and helps maintain a clean, organized, safe, and inviting shopping environment.
This role supports Goodwill NLA's mission of Improving People's Lives Through the Power of Work by creating a positive customer experience and helping maximize revenue from donated goods to support workforce programs and community services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Customer Service & Sales
- Greets and assists customers and provides courteous, responsive service throughout the shopping and checkout experience.
- Answers routine questions regarding merchandise, sales, and store information and refers pricing disputes or other concerns to management as appropriate.
- Promotes approved agency initiatives, including Round-Up or other customer-supported mission programs.
- Responds appropriately to routine customer concerns and involves the Manager on Duty when additional assistance is needed.
- Accurately processes cash, credit/debit, and other authorized transactions using the point-of-sale system.
- Follows applicable cash-handling, payment-card, discount, void, refund, and register-control procedures.
- Make sure that you have all of the good, saved and signed.
- Maintains an accurate cash drawer and completes required beginning- and end-of-shift register procedures.
- Stocks and moves merchandise to appropriate sales-floor locations.
- Recovers and organizes racks, shelves, displays, dressing rooms, and other assigned areas throughout the shift.
- Supports established merchandise rotation, pull, categorization, and presentation standards.
- Identifies damaged, improperly tagged, or otherwise nonconforming merchandise and routes it appropriately.
- Helps maintain clean, accessible, and hazard-free customer and sales-floor areas.
- Supports loss prevention by remaining attentive to store activity and promptly reporting suspicious behavior rather than personally confronting suspected theft.
- Safely moves merchandise and uses authorized equipment as required.
- Assists in donation, processing, or other store operational areas as assigned and trained.
- Follows required safety, PPE, cash-control, security, and asset-protection procedures.
- Attends required meetings and trainings.
- Performs other duties as assigned in support of store operations and the agency mission.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and/or
Experience:
High school diploma, HiSET/GED, or equivalent preferred. Previous retail, cashier, or customer-service experience preferred but not required.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Must complete and maintain any safety, equipment, or other position-specific training or authorization required for assigned duties.
Screenings:
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check and any additional screenings required by agency policy.

- Ability to work effectively with others and adapt to changing customer and store needs.
The position requires frequent standing and walking throughout the work shift, including movement between the register, sales floor, fitting rooms, merchandise areas, and other assigned work areas. The employee regularly reaches, bends, stoops, and uses the hands and fingers to operate point-of-sale equipment, handle merchandise, stock shelves and racks, and perform sales-floor recovery.
The employee regularly lifts and moves merchandise weighing up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds, using team lifting or appropriate equipment when needed. The position may require pushing or…
