Opticians are responsible for selling eyewear and accessories to patients, ensuring they receive correctly fitted frames, lenses with accurate prescriptions, and exceptional customer service.

• Deliver extraordinary experiences, providing patients with a full understanding of recommendations.
• Develop clientele through service and referrals.
• Stay current on product offerings, manufacturer rebates, and lens/frames options.
• Handle patient calls, update them on order status, and resolve issues, escalating when necessary.
• Retrieve patient charts and electronic health records.
• Assist patients selection of frames, lens type, and treatments (tints, coatings) based on needs and measurements.
• Educate patients on lens and contact care.
• Collect eye and face measurements to ensure proper fit.
• Interpret prescriptions from optometrists and ophthalmologists.
• Create work orders for lab technicians with detailed lens specifications.
• Follow-up on pending orders, verifying within time guidelines, and inform patients of status or delays.
• Dispense glasses: inspect, ensure proper fit, adjust, and solicit feedback.
• Adjust eyewear for visual acuity and comfort using tools (pupilometers, lensometers, etc.).
• Maintain knowledge of product issues; answer questions about insurance, warranty, pricing, and promotions.
• Regularly communicate with technicians, managers, front desk, and optometrist.
• Clean and organize display areas, office, and breakroom to maintain store appearance.
• Restock retail boards with new merchandise.
• Sell ancillary products (cleaners, contact lens supplies, sunglasses, safety glasses).
• Perform other duties as needed and assigned by management.

• High School Diploma.
• Minimum of one year experience as an Optician (highly preferred).
• Experience with HIPAA requirements preferred.
• Strong organizational, attention to detail, and communication skills.
• Excellent customer service and sales experience.
• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
• Dependability and punctuality.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs, bend, kneel, and stand up to 8 hrs daily.

• Requires direct communication with patients and use of equipment necessary to perform job duties, and ability to move within office space.
