Long Term Substitute Teacher

The Long Term Substitute Teacher enables all students to pursue their education as smoothly and completely as possible, in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.

Naomi L. Brooks Elementary School is currently seeking a Long Term Substitute candidate to fill an absence within Instrumental Music, 4th and 5th grade Band and Orchestra, from January 5, 2026 to June 12, 2026. This position is a half‑day (0.5 FTE) with the hours 7:40 am – 11:30 am.

• At least 48 hours of college coursework
• Negative Tuberculosis test (TB test or Chest X‑ray)
• Criminal background check; applicant pays $37 for fingerprinting during orientation
• Attendance at an orientation session

• Report to proper authority 30 minutes before official school opening
• Review plans and schedules with department head or grade‑level chairperson before the teaching day
• Maintain established routine and procedures of the school and classroom assigned
• Follow the lesson plan prepared by the absent teacher
• Consult with proper authority before initiating any procedures not specified in the lesson plan
• Submit written report on the substitute teacher’s report form each day
• Remain in the assigned classroom until 30 minutes after closing and report for absent teacher duties
• Verify with school secretary whether attendance is required the following day
• Follow all policies, rules, and procedures applicable to regular teachers and good teaching practice

• (1–10 days): $124.50 for teacher assignments; $105 for instructional assistant assignments
• Long‑term daily rate (11 working days or more): $172.09

• Criminal justice fingerprint/background clearance
• Tuberculosis skin test

• Must follow safety and health protocols
