AboutThe Role
The Planner & Scheduler will be responsible for the overall Planning and Scheduling of facility mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and control activities, including daily, outage and long‑term planning of all maintenance activities related to vehicles, boilers, turbine/generators, process material handling and balance‑of‑plant equipment.
Position Responsibilities- Facilitates communication between Operations, Maintenance, Safety, and Procurement to ensure unified work planning, clear ownership of tasks, and consistent priority setting across all departments.
- Leads cross‑department coordination to resolve issues collaboratively rather than in silos.
- Responsible for the administration of the work order system including researching, estimating, planning, tracking, and recording maintenance equipment history.
- Prepares and maintains a daily and weekly maintenance schedule.
- Maintains the integrity of the work order process from issuance, approval, accurate recording of information, completion of work orders, equipment history and archiving.
- Evaluates and analyzes equipment history and predictive maintenance data trends to help anticipate plant maintenance needs.
- Reviews all work orders for compliance with all environmental and safety requirements.
- In conjunction with the Storekeeper, verifies parts required for timely completion of scheduled work scopes.
- Collaborates with Department Managers and Supervisors to support development and execution of daily, weekly, and monthly planned workloads.
- Works with all departments to ensure an understanding of outage work scopes and the Microsoft Project or Primavera P6 scheduling requirements.
- Works directly with Procurement and vendors to obtain quotes, verify scope, manage PO requisitions, and support cost‑effective purchasing strategies.
- Supports the Facility Manager with maintenance and outage cost control initiatives, including monitoring contractor overtime, verifying invoices and ensuring work stays within budget.
- Supports and works with contractors updating time‑tracking documentation in the CMM program on routine and outage activities.
- In conjunction with Facility Manager, leads all daily and outage meetings and discussions to ensure project schedules are progressing as planned and on budget, and publishes daily updates.
- Assists with management of spare parts inventory to optimum levels.
- Provides technical leadership where appropriate for specific repairs to plant equipment.
- Provides detailed scheduled and unscheduled outage and project reports.
- Serves as primary backup to the Maintenance Supervisor or other Lead Mechanics during absences, vacations, etc., at the direction of the Facility Manager.
- Previous experience in the power and/or industrial plant maintenance field.
- 3 years of supervisory experience in plant maintenance field, preferred.
- Familiarity with computer‑based work order/inventory CMMS systems, P6 scheduling software, Primavera, and Microsoft Office (proficient with Microsoft Project).
- Knowledge of NBIC & ASME codes and scheduling tools required.
- Proactive self‑starter with a proven ability to work independently and efficiently with strong time‑management and organizational skills.
