Tax Manager (Not-for-profit) (US - Remote) Position Summary

We are seeking a Tax Manager to oversee federal and state tax filings for exempt organizations and to advise nonprofit clients on complex tax matters.

• Lead the preparation and review of federal and state tax filings for exempt organizations, including Forms 990, 990‑T, and 990‑PF.
• Advise nonprofit clients on complex tax matters such as UBIT, public support testing, and charitable contribution requirements.
• Interpret and apply evolving tax law to unique nonprofit issues, staying current on developments impacting the exempt organization sector.
• Manage end‑to‑end client engagements, including planning, execution, quality review, billing, and scope management.
• Serve as a primary client contact, building trusted relationships and partnering across Sikich service lines to deliver integrated solutions.
• Coach and develop associates and senior associates through ongoing feedback and hands‑on mentorship.
• Support practice growth through proposal support, client presentations, and participation in thought leadership or speaking opportunities.

• BA/BS Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• MST (or willingness to obtain) preferred.
• CPA or EA certification (or progress toward certification).
• 5+ years of current public accounting experience.
• Proficiency with computerized tax software and MS Office.
• Strong client rapport and project management skills.
• Supervisory experience.
• Flexible schedule.
• Ability to service multiple client engagements simultaneously.
• Strong communication (verbal and written) skills with emphasis on the ability to articulate complex tax and financial information to all levels of clients.
