This position qualifies for a signing bonus of $3,000. Therapist Supervisors in Child and Family Behavioral Health Services (CFBHS) are responsible for providing clinical and administrative supervision for CFBHS staff, who partner with high needs youth and their families in an array of behavioral health services that are designed to help children live and thrive in their homes and communities. As part of Alexandria’s System of Care, Therapist Supervisors coordinate closely with youth, families, their natural support and colleagues in education, child welfare, and juvenile justice to ensure that integrated services are trauma informed and prioritize family and youth voice and choice, cultural influences and equity, outcome-based work, and collaboration.
CFBHS Therapist Supervisors are committed to racial equity and strive to ensure services are responsive to the impact of generational trauma. Tasks are performed under the general supervision of a CFBHS Team Leader. These positions provide services billable to Medicaid, assist in program development and monitoring of services while tracking relevant data with support from the CFBHS Team Supervisors and system partners.
The Case Management Therapist Supervisor supervises Human Services Specialist IIs, who conduct an array of case management and coordination activities throughout Alexandria’s System of Care, and a Community Services Coordinator I responsible for front door experience and coordination. The Case Management Therapist Supervisor monitors and ensures quality case management service delivery; supports intake services through the Same Day Assessment (SDA) process in collaboration with CFBHS Team Leaders;
is the liaison with the DCHS psychiatric department and manages the Youth Meds only program; and supports the transition for older youth into adult services. This position provides direct services which can include case management and clinical intake.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of and training in clinical supervision of direct service mental health professionals; thorough knowledge and skills related to etiology and effective treatment and case management methods for children who have a history of trauma, mental illness and co-occurring disorders and their families; thorough knowledge of current social, economic and health issues impacting racially and ethnically diverse families;
excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing, with other professionals, clients, and with the public; knowledge, skills and ability to manage change; ability to motivate professionals to function as a team at a high level; ability to work with a diverse team serving a diverse and very high-risk population.
- Develops, maintains and adjusts workflow processes that support efficiency and quality of services in response to needs;
- Establishes goals, objectives and outcome measures in collaboration with CFBHS supervisory team;
- Collaborates actively with internal and external stakeholders, including clinical consultation and testifying in court as needed;
- Recruits, hires and trains CFBHS clinical staff who engage youth and families in a range of community, office and school-based assessment, outreach, engagement, case management and coordination services;
- Sets performance objectives and professional development goals with supervises and creates conditions to meet them, to include advancing racial equity in practice, clinical record keeping and productivity requirements, among other Department, State, City, Federal and regulatory policies and guidelines;
- Engages supervises in quality trauma-informed, motivational and equitable clinical and administrative supervision;
- Ensures supervises are trained in evidence-based models and are implementing them with fidelity;
- Engages youth and families in evidence-based youth-led and family driven clinical assessment; comprehensive needs assessments; targeted case management; and crisis intervention;
- Participates in Department, City-wide and regional work groups and committees; and
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
