Cardiac Stress Technician

Inova Alexandria Hospital is looking for a dedicated Cardiac Stress Technician to join the team. This role will be Full-time Day Shift: Monday – Friday, 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

• The Cardiac Stress Technician under the direct supervision of the site physician or physician extender performs various duties related to stress testing which include but are not limited to patient preparation, assisting with the administration of exercise and pharmacological stress tests, IV insertion, ECG placement and interpretation, Holter monitor placement (where applicable).
• Reads and translates medical terminology written by physicians and/or physician extenders for obtaining ECG tracings, stress testing, and related activities as evidenced by direct observation.
• Practices an aseptic technique for initiating and maintaining intravenous cannulation devices and related activities as evidenced by direct observation.
• Documents patient information in the EMR, and demonstrates teamwork by communicating effectively and working cooperatively with others to optimize job performance and foster productive, working relationships. Review patient history to determine appropriate testing, including women of childbearing age. Obtain and document routine vital signs.
• May perform additional duties as assigned.

• Education:
  
  High School or GED
• Experience:
  
  One year of Acute Hospital and/or cardiology experience.
• Certification:
  • Cardiac Stress Technician Certification or equivalent certification, or LPN, or EMT-Paramedic, or Exercise Physiology degree, or Exercise Science degree OR two years of Inova Clin Tech experience in lieu of the certification required upon start.>
  • American Heart Association BLS required upon start.
