ISC in Alexandria, VA. In this role, you'll manage a team of engineers/architects who will be responsible to maintain and enhance the cloud infrastructure that powers critical Coast Guard operations, driving innovation that directly impacts national security.
This position is on a future contract pending award announcement.

We are seeking a highly capable Engineering Manager with expertise in AWS, Azure, and Python. This individual will be responsible for managing cloud architects, cloud engineers, network engineers and Dev Sec Ops engineers. This role blends technical leadership, personnel management, and hands‑on engineering support.
Primary Tasks:- Provide personnel management for software developers, engineers, architects – including interviewing and hiring, monitoring and managing employee coverage, conducting performance evaluations, and engaging employees in career development.
- Guide and perform development and maintenance of scalable, resilient, and secure cloud solutions across AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform.
- Lead efforts for code reviews, tracking software changes, and ensuring adherence to technical standards.
- Coordinate and support technical efforts across teams for system integration, testing, and customer requests related to software and operations.
- Direct and contribute to systems documentation, including design documents, user guides, and operational procedures.
- Oversee operational support activities such as system health and status monitoring and troubleshooting – providing backup operational support for server, network, and automation issues.
- Mentor, guide and supervise development teams on cloud‑native application design and deployment.
- Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and assess their potential impact on organizational goals.
- Drive adoption of Dev Ops practices, infrastructure as code, and automation frameworks.
- Lead large‑scale cloud migration projects from planning through execution.
- Assess legacy systems and design modernization strategies including containerization and microservices.
- Develop migration methodologies and ensure minimal organizational disruption during transitions.
- Facilitate customer onboarding and implement a consistent pathway to cloud adoption.
- Optimize application performance and reliability in cloud environments.
- Design secure cloud architectures implementing zero‑trust principles and defense‑in‑depth strategies.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI‑DSS, etc.) and regulatory requirements.
- Implement identity and access management solutions and security monitoring frameworks.
- Conduct security assessments and remediate vulnerabilities in cloud environments.
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including development, operations, security, and product management.
- Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation.
- Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of experience in an IT‑discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Information Systems, Business).
