Position Overview
This position works in a team environment supporting the Environmental & Safety Manager with the operation of a continuous flow chemical precipitation pre‑treatment plant. $ per hour.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Support four critical areas (Pollution Control Facility, REM Treatment Area, Heat Treat Neutralization, and the Oil Recovery Ultra‑Filtration Area) to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Run filter presses and ultra‑filtration equipment.
- Replenish chemicals, handle hazardous waste by‑products, and transport small volumes of chemicals with a forklift (must pass DOT physical examination).
- Conduct and log routine audits of environmental and safety equipment on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
- Maintain industrial pre‑treatment license requirements (e.g., 20 TCHs every two years).
- Observe and maintain all equipment; perform routine maintenance as needed.
- High School/ GED required.
- Completion of a vocational academic program or certification program preferred.
- Basic science, math and/or chemistry background preferred.
- Massachusetts Grade 4 Industrial Wastewater Operator License required.
- RCRA Hazardous Waste Management Certification preferred.
- Strong command of the English language; able to read, write, and interpret English.
- Effective verbal and written communication (instructions, memos).
- Basic computer skills preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of electronics/electricity preferred.
- Excellent conceptual, functional, and technical skills, including controls and instrumentation.
- Attention to detail and sound judgment.
- Ability to solve problems independently.
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, push, pull, carry, reach, and twist.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Within the Smith & Wesson manufacturing facility, employees may be exposed to manufacturing noise, airborne liquid chemicals, fine particulate dust, ambient temperatures, and industrial lighting. Work environment is similar to most manufacturing operations and may involve excess noise, high temperatures, moving machinery, confined spaces, vibration, and occasional chemical hazards.

- Hearing protection when on the manufacturing floor.
The use of additional chemical‑specific personal protective equipment may be required when a job task is being completed in or around your assigned department.
