Registered Nurse; RN Progressive Care Unit

Overview

Registered Nurse (RN) – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at Inova Health, Inova Alexandria Hospital. This is a full-time night shift position.

• Performs comprehensive patient health assessments by interpreting multiple data sets and synthesizing their relationships.
• Formulates individualized plans of care based on assessment findings and interpretation of trends to achieve best practice.
• Delivers patient care in a patient- and family-centered manner, integrating knowledge, skills, and experience to meet needs throughout the continuum of care.
• Advocates for patients’ rights from the patient and family perspective and provides counsel while acting as a resource to resolve issues.
• Coordinates care by accessing resources from all disciplines to achieve desired patient outcomes and planning transitions for patient/family needs.
• Documents all patient care activities according to documentation standards and assists the healthcare team with documentation.
• Evaluates processes to achieve outcomes, anticipates variances, and adjusts plans of care accordingly.
• Makes clinical decisions based on experience, patient population data, and clinical judgment, while supporting development of clinical decision making in the team.

• Education:
  
  BSN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an ADN, BSN must be completed within 5 years of start date.
• Experience:
  
  Minimum 1 year of RN clinical experience in an acute care setting.
• Certification:
  Current Virginia RN license or privilege to practice in Virginia under eNLC. BLS for Healthcare Providers certification from the American Heart Association required on start date.

• Previous experience in Progressive Care, Intermediate Care, Intensive Care, Neuro and Telemetry is strongly preferred.
