All About Food & Beverage

The Food & Beverage team enables a consistent experience for our guests by ensuring product is fresh, in stock, available, and accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. The team leads food services and is responsible for replenishment, inventory accuracy, food safety, presentation, pricing, and promotional signing for all Food & Beverage areas.

Key Skills & Experience
  • Guest service fundamentals and a guest‑first culture in Food & Beverage
  • Providing guests with purchase guidance, quantity options, and storage tips
  • Food & Beverage business fundamentals: department sales trends, inventory, quality and freshness management, guest shopping patterns, pricing, and promotions strategies
  • Seasonality, freshness and quality control, food safety standards and routines, and merchandising
Typical Responsibilities
  • Deliver an exceptional guest experience, providing a fresh and full shopping experience during all hours of operations.
  • Uphold and maintain the execution of Food & Beverage standards.
  • Execute processes including food deliveries, replenishment, straightening merchandise, stock‑in routines, data accuracy, culling, rotation, cleaning, signing and organizing and storing reserve product.
  • Follow all food safety requirements as outlined in Target’s policies and procedures.
  • Use sampling and suggestive selling to promote products and increase sales.
  • Collaborate with vendors to proactively set, maintain and make planned changes to sales‑floor merchandise displays and to keep organized back‑room space.
  • Locate and identify damaged, recalled or expired items and process them according to Target’s policies and procedures.
  • Be knowledgeable about the tools, products, and services available in the store to solve guest issues and improve their experience.
  • Execute all federal, state and local adult beverage laws applicable to the business.
  • Appropriately use and care for in‑store and personal protective equipment; follow equipment control guidelines.
  • Always demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance.
  • Work safely at all times; comply with safety policies, best practices, and training; report hazards and correct them when possible.
  • Support guest services such as back‑up cashier, order pick‑up (OPU) and Drive‑up (DU) and maintain compliance culture while executing those duties.
  • Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests as you complete daily tasks.
  • Engage with guests when they need assistance to help solve their specific needs.
  • Thank guests and let them know we’re happy they chose to shop at Target.
  • All other duties based on business needs.

Required Skills & Experience
  • Must be at least 18 years old (Bakery only).
  • Previous food or grocery experience preferred, but not required.
  • Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and team members.
  • Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology equipment as directed.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Resolve guest questions quickly.
  • Attention to detail and follow multi‑step processes.
  • Remain focused and composed in a fast‑paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established time frames.
