General Maintenance Worker - To perform general maintenance and repairs of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge (but not proficiency) in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry and electrical work.

JOB TITLE: General Maintenance Worker

SUMMARY: A General Maintenance Worker performs maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings in such trades at painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings
• Replaces electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors.
• Uses minor plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceiling.
• Repairs or replaces sinks, water coolers, and toilets.
• Paints structures and equipment.
• Replaces or repairs concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks.
• Replaces damaged paneling and floor tiles.
• Performs general maintenance on equipment and machinery.
• Inspect buildings and equipment for needed maintenance or repairs.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be able to provide own hand tools
• Minimum 10 years practical experience in the field
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Mechanical Aptitude
• Applied analytical skills to recognize when a specialized trade is needed for various tasks
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Strong troubleshooting abilities
