Position:
Wellness Director Salary Range: $50,000.00 + P/T Commission

The YMCA Alexandria is currently seeking an experienced leader to join our team as the Wellness Director. Our ideal candidate is able to maintain high expectations while also ensuring a fun, and positive environment daily! The Director oversees the overall operation of the Wellness department and has extensive knowledge, experience, and passion for healthy initiatives and programming.

• Lead the branch wellness team in implementing the association’s best practice model for excellence in wellness programming and operations.
• Ensure that outstanding fitness and wellness experiences are provided to all members (i.e. supporting the development of motivating monthly member activity calendars, leading excellent wellness floor services, supporting the delivery of outstanding personal wellness training experiences, inspiring excellent new member on-boarding experiences, etc.) to increase member satisfaction and participation in wellness activities.
• Support the development of the personal trainers, wellness coaches, group exercise coordinator and group exercise instructors in enhancing member experiences.
• Support the delivery of Community Healthy programs (i.e. Diabetes Prevention Program) in concert with the YMCA’s Community Health leadership team.

Lifetime fitness equipment, comprehensive personal training and group exercise program and so much more. Supporting our members throughout all stages of their healthy living journey at the YMCA is key to achieving our Association’s strategic priority of enhancing the region’s health and well-being.

• An undergraduate degree (or advanced degree) in exercise science, kinesiology, nutrition or physical education is required.
• Must possess a current nationally recognized fitness certifications (i.e. ACE, NASM, ACSM, NSCA, NSPA).
• Minimum of 5 years' experience working within a Wellness/Fitness department. Supervisory experience, a record of delivering excellent personal training management and instruction.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and administrative skills including staff supervision and development.
• Flexible work schedule with the availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be able to effectively communicate with staff and members while committed to working with diverse population.
