The service operates over four sites within Alfred Health and continually advocates for postgraduate learning and research interests, with supportive partnerships and expert mentors available to foster staff development.
AboutThe Role
Senior Pharmacy Technicians play a vital role in medication delivery at Alfred Health to ensure patients' medications are available in a safe and timely manner. The role includes several key rotations to support the ongoing needs of the Pharmacy Department.
- Aseptic services
- Procurement and Distribution services
- Inpatient and outpatient services
- Ward‑Based and Medication Management services
Senior Pharmacy Technicians also participate in expanded scope of practice initiatives such as the ‘Tech Check Tech’ credentialing. You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and operational services to achieve the best medication management outcomes. You will contribute to improving medication management on a larger scale through research projects and service & process improvement work as required. As Alfred Health is an academic health centre, you will supervise and mentor local and international students as well as other pharmacy staff.
KeySkills
- Demonstrate leadership and decision‑making skills
- Problem‑solving and risk assessment abilities, with initiative
- Excellent communication, time‑management and prioritisation skills
- Effective teamwork within multidisciplinary settings
- Certificate III or IV in Hospital‑Health Services Pharmacy Support or equivalent (e.g., Community Pharmacy Services or a Bachelor’s Degree in Science/Pharmaceutical Science)
- Minimum of two years experience as a qualified Pharmacy Technician in a hospital or community pharmacy setting
- Experience supervising or training staff is desirable
