On 1 January 2026, Alfred Health will come together with Kooweerup Regional Health Service, Peninsula Health, Bass Coast Health and Gippsland Southern Health Service to create Bayside Health, a newly merged health service with more than 22,000 employees caring for a community of over 1.2 million Victorians.

Subject to final approval on 1 January 2026, all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health.

Alfred Mental & Addiction Health is responsible for the operation of services which focus on people with a mental illness residing in the Inner South Eastern area of Melbourne.
About UsThe newly integrated Adult and Older Adult Service combines AMAH Adult Community Mental Health and Caulfield Aged and Liaison Psychiatry Services to provide comprehensive, person‑centred support for adults and older adults. We offer a wide range of therapeutic, addiction, trauma‑informed, and family violence services. In line with the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health recommendations and the Victorian Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022, we are expanding our services to provide specialised expertise and broad‑spectrum care, including pathways for substance use, rehabilitation, recovery, and trauma‑focused care.
Our approach focuses on integrated treatment, education, peer support, care planning, and navigation, supporting individuals at every stage of their recovery journey. Join us in reshaping mental health care with compassionate, specialised support to create meaningful change for our community.
The incumbent will have a sophisticated understanding of recovery and will apply the model in practice. Relevant knowledge and highly demonstrated skills in managing safety, mental state assessment, care planning and with capability to provide responsive direct care and evidence‑based interventions to support clients participating in the program to engage in self‑management are key requirements. The incumbent will be expected to provide support and clinical inputs on a day‑to‑day basis to clients residing occupational therapist will also be responsible for ensuring occupational therapy assessments are undertaken to inform care planning and case review whilst providing case management for up to 4 individual clients.
Shift support and supervision to the graduate occupational therapists is also required. Comprehensive knowledge of the Mental Health Act and other relevant legislation is required, along with well‑developed interpersonal skills to effectively consult, liaise and negotiate with patients, carers, family members, and other professionals. The position requires a high performer who is flexible, adaptable, client focused, a team player, and is motivated and enthusiastic.
The position involves a rotating AM and PM shift roster with hours scheduled over 7 days per week.
- Bachelor of Applied Science (O.T.) or equivalent from a recognised school of Occupational Therapy.
- Eligible for membership of O.T. Australia, Victoria.
- Current registration with AHPRA.
- Experience of working in residential rehabilitation setting.
- Commitment to the philosophy of recovery‑oriented practice for people with substantial and prolonged mental illness.
